Abstract
Treatment of 2-amino-6-iodoquinazolin-4(3H)-one with ethyl chloroacetate in the presence of potassium carbonate in dry acetone, followed by hydrazinolysis of the product afforded the corresponding acid hydrazide. The reactivity of acid hydrazide towards different carbon electrophiles has been investigated. Antimicrobial activity of some synthesized compounds has been evaluated and most of them give moderate activity.
